"I bought this as I was looking for something warm, yet lightweight and of small pack size, to use for mooching about camp at night during a week long, multi stage, ultra marathon.
The event is in the UK, so I needed something that would be warm, but as competitors have to carry everything they need for the week as they run, I needed it to be light.
I already own a Yeti Passion One sleeping bag and found it to be ideal as a 2 (3 at a push) season bag. I was not disappointed when I received the Solace.
It is very compact, very light and surprisingly warm. The fabric feels great and it is a great jacket to wear. I own a lot of high end gear due to ultra marathon running and winter mountain climbing. Yeti products have impressed me immensely.
If you do any sort of extreme expeditions where pack weight and clothing performance is important, then Yeti is worth considering. Slightly pricey, but you get what you pay for.
One word of warning - the Solace is a very good jacket, however you need to buy it with your eyes open. It is not adequate for freezing temperatures, unless used as part of a layering system. Yeti do extreme jackets, however the Solace, like the Purity and the Passion One sleeping bag are designed to be ultra lightweight systems. Although they do outperform for their size, they are not arctic clothing!
Product aside, may I just say that the service from packyourbags is second to none. I received this the day after ordering, and the price was half of what it is elsewhere. I am now about to order the Yeti purity jacket, as it is also half price!
